Max Slater is a Director of Photography from Northern England, working across narrative, commercial, music and documentary filmmaking.
Drawn to human stories and emotionally grounded visual storytelling, he combines technical precision with an instinctive and collaborative approach. His long-term focus is narrative, with the ambition to shoot feature films and high-end television.
Before filmmaking, Max’s background was rooted in adventure and action sports. That experience continues to shape his work, bringing a sense of energy, curiosity and exploration to the stories he shoots.
Collaboration is central to his process. He values close creative relationships with directors and enjoys working alongside talented crews, building visual ideas collectively from the earliest conversations through to the finished film.
Max shoots both digital and film and owns camera packages including the ARRI Alexa 35, Sony FX9 and Sony FX3, alongside his production van, Franki the Ford. He holds British and Irish passports and a clean full UK driving licence.
